Would YOU change places with someone who doesn't have access to health care?

Would YOU want your human rights and dignity violated?

Do YOU hold that health, development and human rights are universal aspirations?

Do YOU believe that we, working together, can progressively transform these aspirations into reality?

Your investment in health and human rights research, education and service directly impacts how future generations will approach critical problems and solutions now and in the future both in Australia and the Asia-Pacific Region.

"It is my aspiration that health will finally be seen not as a blessing to be wished for; but as a human right to be fought for."
former United Nations Secretary General, Kofi Annan

The UNSW Initiative for Health and HUMAN Rights  is committed to working across disciplines and borders to develop innovative approaches and solutions to real-world problems. Our researchers tackle some of the most pressing health and human rights issues today including strengthening policies and programs to tackle some of the major health issues of our time. Improving the health and wellbeing of people in both Australia and the Asia-Pacific requires building on best public health practice and tools and universally established human rights norms and standards as they relate to such critical issues as:

  • HIV/AIDS
  • Pandemic Influenza
  • Indigenous Health
  • Climate Change
  • Refugees
  • Gender Inequality
  • Ageing Populations
We are the fortunate who can assist in research and improve populations’ health and well-being. This is something we all have!
Health, Development and Human Rights @ UNSW is committed to ensuring international populations are treated equally, where populations have access to the highest level of health care and where countries have the infrastructure to manage populations equally with public health, climate change issues, HIV/AIDS responsibility and care to all.
