The University’s investment in health and human rights education directly impacts how future generations will approach critical problems and solutions now and in the future both in Australia and globally.

As an academic-based entity, the IHHR is committed to disseminating knowledge and information through education and training. Members of the different Faculties contributing to the IHHR are engaged in teaching courses and seminars relevant to health and human rights. Additionally, under the NewSouth Global Professor of Health and Human Rights, the IHHR is conducting lectures and seminars across Faculties, developing courses and supervising Doctoral and Post-Doctoral candidates on the specific topic of Health and Human Rights. Beyond the University boundaries, the IHHR is engaging with the general public and civil society organisations through conferences, public presentations, and publications.

The most effective ways to learn more about health and human rights is to attend School lectures and seminars, enrol in the School’s Intensive Course on Health, Development and Human Rights, undertake a research project towards a degree, or as importantly, apply learning outcomes to health, development and human rights practice.

The 3rd UNSW flagship intensive Course on Health, Development and Human Rights is scheduled to be held from 7 - 11 December 2009 at the Campus of the University of New South Wales. Click here for more information.

The Initiative hosts the Intensive Course on Health, Development and Human Rights. This course serves as an elective in the Master of Public Health program, and can contribute to Law and Arts & Social Science postgraduate programs. It is also open to professionals as part of their continuing education. The course establishes the key concepts and frameworks of the three domains of health, development and human rights, and explores their reciprocal interaction from a dual research and action oriented perspective.
